Westchester Weekend Updates

With lots of outdoor activities, let’s hope once again that the weather holds up this weekend! It could just be me, but it seems that the evenings have cooled down quite a bit and I’ve just started to get the sense that summer is indeed winding down. Here are a few more suggestions for enjoying one of our few remaining weekends before Labor Day. Please check all websites and/or call ahead to know what to expect especially with respect to Covid 19 protocols and schedules. Please have a safe and enjoyable weekend!
 FRIDAY, August 21
Outdoor Dining With The David Budway Quartet right outside Maureen’s Jazz Cellar in Nyack. Just a short drive across what I still very affectionately refer to as, the Tapan Zee Bridge (currently the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge). Music lovers will not be disappointed with this local gem.

SATURDAY, August 22
Hudson River Museum AmphitheaterThere is a 50 person capacity so you will want to book your tickets to claim your spot. The museum is also allowing free access to the galleries but at selected times – booking ahead is also required, but all easily done on their website.
St. George Restaurant It’s worth having a meal here even just to see this beautiful stone church now home to a great ambiance-filled restaurant.

SUNDAY, August 23
Trinity Cruise Company Why not take a boat tour on our beloved Hudson River. You can check their website for availability and timings.
Washington Irving’s Sunnyside While the cottage remains closed as well as the visitor except for the restrooms, the grounds are available for the public’s enjoyment, but you have to purchase your ticket for your time slot in advance.

The Flying Royals Trapeze at Sportsplex Not located in Westchester BUT, only 40 minutes from where I’m sitting right now (in our Briarcliff Manor Office), this is a cool activity that might interest your kids – and you.

Sensory Hike with ‘RangerSu’ at Rockefeller State Park Preserve Space is limited so early registration is important.

I’m really not ashamed to say that I can eat a whole 9″ pie, of any kind, from Baked By Susan in one sitting (if my conscience allowed). I know I should be, but I’m not. Check out their beautiful Croton-on-Hudson location or their online store to pick up any of their wonderful baked goods, not just pies.
